THE BELIZE TOURISM BOARD AND THE BELIZE CUSTOMS AND EXCISE DEPARTMENT SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING AS PART OF NAUTICAL TOURISM DEVELOPMENT

Belize City Belize, November 17, 2022: The Belize Customs and Excise Department (BCED) and the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) have signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding that will allow the BCED and the BTB to collaborate by creating a seamless arrival experience for nautical visitors, as well as equipping the industry with technology and data required to provide the necessary developmental assistance.

This follows on the heel of the introduction of the SAILCLEAR, an online application that is currently being used as a pre-alert notification for the boarding parties of their intended arrival to Belize. The partnership between the Belize Tourism Board and The Belize Customs Excise Department will allow the BTB to provide marketing support, inclusive of the development of marketing material and communication for both the local and overseas markets on this initiative. The BCED will assist the BTB by providing guidance for industry development.

Four kiosks which have been donated by the Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council (CCLEC), have been installed in strategic locations in Belize to assist with the ease of entry. All official ports will be equipped with the software.

Kiosks can be found at the following locations:

  • Radisson Fort George Marina – Belize City
  • Old Belize (Kukumba Beach) Marina – Belize City
  • Amigos de Mar – San Pedro, Ambergris Caye
  • Roberts Grove Marina – Placencia
