BTB’s 2nd Annual Elevate Training Expo held in Belize City

Belize City, Belize, September 29, 2023: The Belize Tourism Board’s (BTB’s) Elevate Training Expo, an event designed for the learning and development of the tourism workforce, concluded today at the Biltmore Plaza Hotel in Belize City.  The event was officially opened by Mrs. Nicole Solano, Chief Executive Officer, in the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations. Mr. Evan Tillett, Director of Tourism, also delivered remarks at the opening ceremony.

The event was held on September 28 and 29, complements BTB’s Elevate Training Program and its sub-programmatic areas, namely: Safe, Taste, Ambassador, ScaleUp, and Best. The Expo provided centralized training opportunities for the tourism sector over the span of two days and is designed for tourism and hospitality sector employees including: restaurants, accommodation, tour operators, tour guides, tourism attraction personnel, etc.

The training expo featured several presentations and training on a variety of topics led by experienced local and international trainers. These included culinary tourism, sales, tour product development, hospitality managerial accounting, wine production, costing and pricing, advance customer service, massage therapy, storytelling and more! 

During the Expo, the Florida International University (FIU) facilitated internationally acclaimed trainings in Hotel and Lodging Management, Wine Services (Sommelier), and Mixology. Additionally, other certified local trainers, international trainers and training institutions, such as the BELTRAIDE, Lemoneight and the Holistic School of Massage, provided specialized training courses for the various sectors.

Over 300 participants from across the country attended the two-day Elevate Training Expo.
