A New Marketplace for Local Craft: San Pedro Artisans Market Officially Opens

Belize City, Belize – February 5, 2026: The San Pedro Artisans Market is now open to the public following an official inauguration ceremony held today. Located on Nurse Shark Street, the market provides local artisans and vendors with a modern facility from which to operate.

The project is the result of a collaborative effort between Area Representative for Belize Rural South, Hon. Andre Perez, His Worship Mayor Gualberto “Wally” Nuñez and the San Pedro Town Council, and the Belize Tourism Board under the leadership of the Minister of Tourism, Youth, Sports, and Diaspora Relations, Hon. Anthony Mahler. Completed in January 2026, the initiative reflects the BTB’s continued dedication to investing in community-based tourism infrastructure that supports both local livelihoods and destination enhancement.

Featuring five newly constructed kiosks, each housing two units, the market can accommodate up to ten vendors. It offers an organized and accessible space for artisans to showcase and sell handmade products, souvenirs, and local crafts.

In addition to supporting local vendors, the San Pedro Artisans Market is also expected to enhance the consumer experience by providing visitors with a welcoming place to engage with authentic Belizean craftsmanship and connect more meaningfully with the local community.
