Belize Tourism Board Hosts Tourism Security Law Enforcement Summit 2025

Belize City, Belize, October 8, 2025 – The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) hosted the Tourism Security Law Enforcement Summit today at the Best Western Plus Belize Biltmore Plaza in Belize City, under the theme: “Securing Belize: Law Enforcement Integration under the National Tourism Security Strategy 2025–2030.”

Building on the success of the Tourism Security Summit 1.0 held in November 2024, which focused on stakeholder engagement, the 2025 summit brought law enforcement and regulatory agencies into full alignment with the National Tourism Security Strategy (NTSS). The event underscored the importance of recognizing tourism security as a national responsibility, ensuring the safety and resilience of Belize’s tourism industry. Key participants included senior representatives from the Belize Police Department, Customs and Excise Department, Belize Coast Guard, Department of Civil Aviation, Belize Port Authority, National Institute of Culture and History, and other strategic partners, as well as representatives from the British High Commission, BATSUB, and BTIA.

The summit aimed to integrate all relevant law enforcement and regulatory agencies under the NTSS framework, establish operational cohesion to address tourism security threats across land, sea, and air, and promote accountability and collaboration among agencies to safeguard Belize’s tourism sector. Sessions included presentations on tourism trends for 2025–2026, challenges in policing archaeological sites, maritime and territorial safety and security, and an overview of tourism movement in Belize from 2020 to the present, human trafficking and its impact on tourism, and breakout scenario exercises where multi-agency groups assessed real-world incidents and determined operational responses.

The summit formalized the integration of all law enforcement and regulatory entities under the NTSS, fostering a unified and accountable approach to tourism security in Belize. Participants left with clear operational protocols and enhanced inter-agency coordination to protect visitors and the country’s tourism assets.
