Branding & Hospitality Specialist

The Branding and Hospitality Specialist will work closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager to execute the marketing and media relations initiatives managed by BTB’s international marketing agencies. With the support of the Hospitality Coordinator, he/she is responsible for the overall management of the Hospitality team to ensure that BTB meets the needs of our visiting guests and delivers on service excellence.  He/she will also be required to lead the preparation and execution of the industry relations activities and local signature tourism marketing events and project launches with the support of the Industry Relations Coordinator.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor the responsibilities of the Branding and Hospitality Unit as well as work with other relevant departments within BTB to ensure performance and delivery of the expectations of the Unit.
  • Provide support to the Marketing and Communications Manager with the execution of all international marketing and media relations initiatives managed by BTB’s international marketing agencies.
  • Work with BTB’s international marketing agencies to develop successful PR tactics to be used with geographically targeted audiences.
  • Plan and manage the execution of signature events organized and supported by BTB including but not limited to BOOM, Tourism Awards, etc.
  • Establish and manage a strong, positive identity for the Belize Tourism Board (BTB), support relationships with industry stakeholders, and leverage these relationships to realize the organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develop marketing materials relevant to support the industry relations strategy and engagement of key audiences.
  • Review and analyze reports submitted by other relevant departments within the BTB to secure marketing intelligence for use in strategy development and implementation.
  • Ensure that statistical reports concerning the number of visitors who enter the country via the border points are accurate and submitted on a timely basis by the Hospitality Coordinator.
  • Plan and schedule stakeholder forums/meetings across the country for the Minister of Tourism & Diaspora Relations to strengthen relations with stakeholders – update them on the tourism-related initiatives and learn of the industry needs.
  • Ensure that the inquiries or complaints received via the 0-800 number and email platform, are addressed timely by the Hospitality team, as per the KPI set in place.
  • Ensure inventory levels at both the Fulfillment Center in the US and Belize are being monitored by the Hospitality Coordinator.
  • Responsible for the overall management of all Information Kiosks of the BTB to ensure that they are fully functional to meet the needs of our visiting guests and that the BTB delivers service excellence
  • Assist in the formulation of monthly Department reports submitted to the Director of Marketing and Communications
  • Develop annual budget and work plan for the Branding and Hospitality Unit and ensure the delivery of same.
  • Other related duties are assigned from time to time.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Authority allocated:
(The scope of the person’s authority, including a list of jobs that report to the incumbent.  Authorities refer to many things for which permission is not necessary, including resources the position is allowed to commit, people with whom the position may openly communicate, meetings the position is allowed to convene, agreements the position may make, etc.)
  • The Branding and Hospitality Specialist has the authority to convene meetings with local stakeholders, both the print and online marketing agencies with the prior consent of the Marketing and Communications Manager and/or Director to execute her responsibilities.
  • The Branding and Hospitality Specialist can formally represent the Marketing and Communications Manager and/or Director at meetings, shows, and educational presentations, and forums where a public role is required.


  • Qualifications: Education / Experience / Skills required of the position.
    • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Tourism plus 5 years of working experience in the tourism and hospitality industry
    • Previous experience working in a customer-relations is considered an asset
    • Previous experience working with a Marketing Communications Agency and exposure to tourism marketing is considered an asset
    • Ability to speak and write in Spanish is preferred, but not required
    • Should possess the ability to spot problems and challenges in the field and report them immediately
    • Should be goal-oriented and capable of working with limited supervision
    • Should possess excellent communication skills – verbal and written
    • Should have good public relations skills and an assertive personality
    • Effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships internally and externally
    • Proven ability to establish good working relationships with reporters and editors
    • Strong project management and organizational skills
    • Strategic yet creative thinker, self-starter, cool under pressure, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Ability to meet deadlines

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • The physical skills and demands and the environmental working conditions required by the job.
  • This job requires little physical demands and frequent sitting. Environmental working conditions are normal but include exposure to the outside elements when travelling locally or internationally.
